St. Joseph Catholic School Band Program provides a well-rounded musical education for every child. This education focuses on building a solid foundation of musical knowledge upon which artistic performances are built. In addition to providing a quality music education, the Band Program also recognizes the need to educate the whole child. We seek to develop the character and citizenship of each member of our band, assisting each child to attain his/her own personal best.
Students in grades 4-8 may receive instrumental lessons through the diocesan band program. Additional fees for participation in the band are arranged through this program. The school band competes in the annual diocesan band festival, the "Music in the Park" festival program, and performs an annual winter and spring concert.
Band lessons are every Tuesday. They begin on September 27th. The classes are 30-minute group lessons. Groups are made according to ability and instrument. (Beginning Flute, Beginning Clarinet, etc). The lessons are during the school day. The students are pulled out of their other classes for Band. Students who sign up for Band are expected to attend the Band Lessons every week, and to make up the work missed while doing so. The schedule rotates in order to avoid students missing the same part of their classes every week.
